God clearly called us to open our home to the college/young singles community at Emmaus. We have a heart for those in this crazy, chaotic season of life. We want to provide an opportunity for them to develop community among themselves. In the process, God enables us to mentor them as they are walking through major life decisions.
The group packs our living room by 5:00 each Sunday. We are very social, and truly care about one another, which makes for such great chatter as we begin. We then go around the room giving our nameS and answering a fun icebreaker question. After prayer, we dig into the Scripture and discussion from that week’s sermon. Greg & Amy facilitate, but the group is very responsive and participatory. We always finish by honing in on how this passage will change and refine us. We end with prayer time, often with several people praying specifically for one another. Many Sundays, most of the group goes out to eat afterwards or we prepare food to have dinner together in our home.
Greg and Amy have been married almost 30 years and have 2 grown sons, Taylor who is married to Gennifer, and Blake who is a senior at Liberty University. We are close-knit, love to laugh & truly enjoy being together.
We love to travel! Destin is our happy place & annual destination after tax season each spring. But exploring out west is a favorite, as well. Any adventure shared with our family adds much pleasure to our travels. Amy is an avid scrapbooker while Greg enjoys a round of golf. We are also foodies; we enjoy cooking new recipes and finding great local spots for a great meal.
This is tough! Amy loves Philippians and Ruth. Greg’s favorite is Ephesians. We have grown to love Exodus this past year!
Greg says anything by Robert Whitlow. Amy would bring her favorite 1800’s book by Hannah Whitall Smith.
